Located between Paphos and Limassol, Pissouri is a traditional Cypriot village retaining much of its natural charm, offering a wonderful contrast to the main towns. The main settlement of Pissouri is situated about 3 kilometres from the bay of Cape Aspro. At one time Pissouri village had a jetty a few kilometres away in the bay, which was used for loading carobs onto larger boats for exporting. This was known as Pissouri Jetty. Now they are 2 distinct communities, Pissouri Village and Pissouri Bay. None of the guide books do justice to the unique character and attractiveness of Pissouri to the visitor and holidaymaker.
The Focus of Pissouri Village is the square where there are ample restaurants and bars to cater for every taste. During the summer months there are regular Cypriot Nights where visitors and locals alike are entertained by traditional dancers whilst enjoying good food and wine. The views from the village are spectacular. At the highest points you can see all along the coastline to Limassol whilst inland you can see Mount Olympus at the top of the Troodos.
Pissouri Bay has one of the most picturesque beaches on the Island. A Blue Flag beach stretching for 2 Kilometres from Cape Aspro down to Black Rock. Even in peak season you cannot fail to find a secluded spot. There are various waterbased activities available along the beach including jet skis, water skiing and banana boats. Just like the village there is a wide selection of excellent tavernas to quench your thirst and appetite both for lunch and dinner.
Accommodation in Pissouri ranges from basic bed and breakfast in traditional taverns to privately owned apartments and villas through to hotels, namely the 4*Columbia Hotel and 5*Resort, situated on the beach and the golf haven of the 5* Intercontinental Hotel and private villas on Aphrodite Hills to which Pissouri is the closest beach resort.
Come to Cyprus for your holiday, it is an excellent destination for divers who have a non-diving family with them or just want to squeeze a few dives in whilst away. There is plenty to see above the water and it’s history provides visitors with more than just a beach holiday and because of it’s location Pissouri is the perfect place to stay.
