Zapallo Bay is located 40 min East of Pissouri Bay by boat. This stunning bay, officially named as the Bay of Tripiti, takes its name from a mining company who opened an underwater quarry many years ago to extract gravel for local building projects. The bay was accessed by a very steep track in poor condition. Eventually the Zapallo mining company left the area and local fisherman adopted Zapallo Bay as an unofficial fishing boat shelter. Unfortunately, over time, the access track deteriorated to such an extent that the bay was no longer accessible by vehicle and the fishing boats relocated to alternative local shelters.
Zapallo Bay is now a stunning beach with very few visitors, it is surrounded by steep cliffs which hide the bay from above, these cliffs are the habitat for many Falcons and Stunning Griffon Vultures.
A perfect site to enjoy a Snorkel, Swim, Sun Bathe, Picnic in solitude whilst watching the Griffon Vultures ride the thermals.
