Diving in Larnaca

Diving in Larnaca is without question one of the best wreck dive locations in the world due to the infamous MS Zenobia. In addition, we now have a new wreck sunk deliberately in 2019 in order to form part of an artificial reef and other popular dive sites on offer while diving in Larnaca include: HMS Cricket, The Alexandria, Champagne wreck, Barge Wreck, Pyla Caves and The Arches.

MS Zenobia

Diving in Larnaca cannot be completed without visiting this amazing Shipwreck, she is a Roll on Roll off vessel that sank due to technical issues controlling the ballast tanks in 1980. She was built in Sweden and this was her second voyage, the destination being Syria with a cargo of 104 articulated lorries and their respective goods including: A truck load of eggs, many of which can still be found littering the seabed 40 years later, A truck loaded with meat which still lies at the entrance to the middle cargo deck with animal bones now eerily littering the trailer bed.

She now lies on her Port side in 42m of water with the Starboard accessible to all levels from Open Water Diver at 18m. This is a perfect wreck for all diving courses from Advanced Open Water through to the most challenging Specialities and Technical courses.

Elpida

The latest edition to what is on offer whilst diving in Larnaca, the Elpida (meaning ‘Hope’), was deliberately sunk just off of the coast of Oroklini, Larnaca in order to form part of an artificial reef. We here at Pissouri Bay Divers were present to witness the sinking on 7th December 2019 and were one of the first Diving Centres to explore her on the 8th December 2019. Book with us and let us guide you around this 63m cargo ship laying on the sea bed at 30m, the uppermost deck around 20m.

She is already attracting a respectable amount of marine life and we are excited to see her progression as a Dive attraction.
